  • There is an underwater sculpture park off the coast of Grenada, which tells the cultural and historical story of the island to snorkelers and divers.
  • Grenada is as known for its waterfalls as for its beaches. Visit the Annandale Waterfall, Seven Sisters, Mount Carmel and Concord Falls.
  • Grenada is called the Spice Isle due to its huge spice industry, including nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, allspice, bay leaves and turmeric.
  • The island is home to 18th-century forts, including Fort George and Fort Frederick, both built by the French.
  • Grenada is also famous for its rum distilleries, including River Antoine Royal Rum Distillery, the oldest water-propelled distillery still in operation in the Caribbean.

Vaccinations

The CDC recommends the following vaccines for most travelers when visiting Curacao: Hepatitis A and Typhoid. Depending on where you are traveling, you may also need Hepatitis B, Rabies and Yellow Fever vaccines.

Getting Around

Use caution when driving because roads are mostly narrow and winding with blind corners, narrow or no shoulders and steep drops to the ocean. Road lighting varies.

Besides car rental, the best way to get around the island is by public bus. There are regular bus stops in St. George’s and its suburbs; otherwise the bus stops where it is needed.

Water taxis run between Grand Anse Beach and St. George’s Harbor. Check to be sure that the boat carries life preservers and a radio.

To visit the sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, use the high-speed catamaran ferry service from the Carenage in St. George’s.

A temporary driver’s license is required.
