Vaccinations

The CDC recommends the following vaccine for all travelers when visiting Bangladesh: Measles and routine vaccinations. Most travelers should receive Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines. Some travelers should receive the Cholera, Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis, Malaria, Yellow Fever and Rabies vaccines.

Getting Around

Be aware that road conditions are crowded, poorly maintained, lack shoulders, have sharp drop-offs and have barriers that are not signed. Roadways are shared between cars and human traffic.

Public transportation includes buses, trains, motorcycles, rickshaws and auto rickshaws, but these are not up to international safety standards. In particular, the Bangladeshi passenger rail system is old and overcrowded to an unsafe level.

A valid US driver’s license and an international driving permit are required.
